Kia ora everybody,
I hope you are all safe and well and for those from Toi enjoy your week up the coast on your Reo Wananga or if you’ll be at kura see you 2moro.
It has been awhile since I have written a blog so heres a small one to start.
Heres a few images from our visit to Pataka Gallery in Porirua over the weekend where our crew installed the first major exhibition outside of Toihoukura in the lead up to some big shows later in the year, like Maori Market.
This is just to give you an idea of the space we had to work in and the pieces we had to work with as well as the people involved in the process of hanging and critiquing an exhibition like this.
Everyone has a role to play and everyone did their fare share of participating and involving themselves in the process of change/progression… Labels play a huge role in exhibitions and I am glad that the use of korero was included in the labels for this show as it contributes to a better understanding of the artwork itself and the mission of the artist, below is an example of mine.
This trip was a very important milestone for me to move on from an event that happened just over a year ago in Wellington, which involved a couple very important people to me – this is reflected in my korero for this artwork.
Below are images of some of the beautiful artworks we got to view at Pataka during our visit as well as many other fascinating exhibitions and artworks from some very talented artists in New Zealand. If you are in Wellington over the holiday period you should go and check it out.
Thanks for reading.
