Ka Hura – the 1st Senior Exhibition of 2013

Kia ora whanau,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely weather we have had lately in Te Tairawhiti. It has been a while since I’ve jumped online to write a blog so I thought why not start with this.

As some of you will know it is that time of year – the time of year where the senior Year 3’s are getting prepared for final assessment towards our Degree – Senior Exhibition. This is a huge objective – if you want to survive you have to suck it up, work hard and prepare yourself for the greatest challenge you’ll ever face at Toihoukura – finishing.

Lucky for some they were on to it and booked the 1st show held a few weeks ago at Toihoukura in Maia Gallery entitled: ‘Ka Hura.’ Here are some photo highlights from the night thanks to my great photographer Theresa Wawatai Smith. Below on my left are four of the exhibiting artists : Alex Mc Mennamin, Waitangi Kupenga, Erin Morse, Tina Osbourne and Lisa Mangu is shown below on the left of Kuia speaking.

Too much whanau those that came to support the kaupapa and your future art leaders.. what an awesome event to be a part of, the art, the atmosphere and the good friends – I wish you all the best with your future endeavours and can’t wait to see more.

All the best to the rest of the Senior roopus soon to take the stage and showcase themselves and their art to our small society. Love, peace and unity.
