Reflecting on an Awesome Event

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have all had an awesome week and those of you that are new at Toihoukura I hope you have been enjoying the experience of making Flax paper with Tina Wirihana and Glenda Hape as part of their 2 week workshop and also the resources and tools you have access to discover these processes.

I would have loved to join you all but at the moment I am in the process of preparing myself for the full on year ahead as well as trying to catch up with new waiata and actions.. lol.. we’ll get there in time.. Too much to the ladies who have been up the front of class and know what they’re up to with their actions so the rest of us can follow you from the back and try to permanently engrain these movements in our heads.. getting there slowly.. but surely.

Today I decided to revisit the last exhibition of 2012 that was held at Toihoukura in Maia Gallery. The featured artists were Steve Smith and Anthony Karauria both skilled in the arts of Taa Moko, Painting and Relief work as well as Hone Bailey who predominantly is a Weaver, Textile Artist and Designer who put his not very often seen but well managed Painting skills on display.

I wish you all the best guys, Go hard, Break the Cycle, it has been and will continue to be an awesome journey with you all. Never give up, the only person who can change your mind, your beliefs and your attitude is yourself. Kia kaha – Today is a new day- Live, Love, Laugh and Adapt.

I will now leave you with these photos of Hone Bailey and his mahi to remind you of him, his awesome mahi and what our goal is this year- To finish what we started- and achieve our Tohu Together..
Love yous always and Forever

PS: We miss you Hone.. and we wish you all the best at home and in your future Designing Endeavours.xx
