Hey there everybody, I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful day we are having. If you are in Gisborne or anywhere close by come and check out the Taa Moko Waananga happening at Toihoukura this week. Lots of Mean Maori Artists doing their thing throughout Maia and Kotuku Gallery.
I have spent my day walking in and out admiring the tino ataahua mahi happening in there (so much so it’s making me want one even more – we will see. Patience is a virtue). Too much whanau. Kia kaha to all you in there getting a taste of it on your skin. Ka mau te wehi!
Neway, onto the korero… Cult Couture 2012… Over the long weekend there was a group of Toihoukura students (including myself) who went up to Auckland to watch, enjoy and celebrate the fact that our mahi had made it onto the Runway stage. Thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to get there, Toihoukura Staff, EIT and thank you to my friends Mariana and Matt – for coming to support me the 2nd year in a row as well as everyones friends and whanau. Nga mihi nui.
Also a big Congratulations to Hone Bailey for taking out the Obviously Organic Section, you can see shots of his dress amongst these photos. Too much to all the designers that made it through this year, it was an awesome effort, although we did not win we got to experience the atmosphere, company and friendship.
Well I hope you enjoy these photos of our trip up whilst we stopped in Paeroa and some shots of the dresses on the Runway when we attended in Auckland.
Thanks for reading.
